چکیده

Endophytic fungi reside within their host plants with no obvious symptoms. They have been proven as abundant sources of new bioactive compounds diverse structures. In our continuous search the compound from endophytic fungi, a compound, 5,7-dihydroxy-3(R)-methylphthalide (1), was isolated Xylaria brevipes PGR1, and three known compounds, (–)-altenuene (2), alternariol (3), altertoxin I (4), were Alternaria alternata D-8. Both branch an Indonesian medicinal plant, Psidium guajava. Their structures elucidated using extensive spectroscopy analyses, including 1D/2D NMR, HRESITOFMS, data comparisons literature. Compounds 1–3 exhibited phytotoxicity at IC50 (µg/ml) values 4.6, 23.07, 77.28, respectively. Additionally, 1–4 showed significant cytotoxicity in brine shrimp lethality test (BSLT), mortality rates 75%, 50%, 90%, 80% concentration 0.19 μg/ml,

Mycolactones: immunosuppressive and cytotoxic polyketides produced by aquatic mycobacteria

Mycolactones are a family of highly related macrocyclic polyketides that exhibit immunosuppressive and cytotoxic properties. First discovered in 1999, they are the primary virulence factors produced by the environmental human pathogen Mycobacterium ulcerans, the causative agent of Buruli ulcer, and by some closely-related aquatic mycobacteria that cause disease in fish and frogs. Mycolactones a...

Triterpenoids from Psidium guajava with Biocidal Activity

In continuation of our studies on the phytochemical investigation of medicinal plants available in the foothills of Darjeeling and Teri, we report herein the isolation of two triterpenoids betulinic acid and lupeol from the leaf extract of Psidium guajava and their potential antimicrobial and phytotoxic activities. All the structures of the isolated compounds were confirmed by spectral (IR, NMR...

Cytotoxic Meroterpenoids with Rare Skeletons from Psidium guajava Cultivated in Temperate Zone

Three new meroterpenoids, guajavadials A-C (1-3), were isolated from Psidium guajava cultivated in temperate zone. Their structures were established by extensive spectroscopic evidence and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations. Guajavadial A (1) represents a novel skeleton of the 3,5-diformylbenzyl phloroglucinol-coupled monoterpenoid, while guajavadials B (2) and C (3) are new adduc...

Carotenoids from guava (Psidium guajava l.): isolation and structure elucidation.

Sixteen carotenoids were isolated from the flesh of Brazilian red guavas (Psidium guajava L.). Their structures were established by means of UV-visible, 400 and 500 MHz (1)H NMR, 120 and 125 MHz (13)C NMR, mass, and circular dichroism spectra. The carotenoids were identified as phytofluene, (all-E)-, (9Z)-, (13Z)-, and (15Z)-beta-carotene, (all-E)-gamma-carotene, (all-E)-, (9Z)-, (13Z)-, and (1...
